OHRDP & 1dea Design have won an award for the Connecting Guide!

We are excited to share this announcement from one of our key partners, the Ontario Harm Reduction Distribution Program (OHRDP).

The OHRDP team is absolutely thrilled to announce that they, with 1dea Design + Media Inc., are award recipients of the Association of Registered Graphic Designers 2022 So(cial) Good Design Awards for “Connecting – A Guide to Using Harm Reduction Supplies as Engagement Tools”!

This is an international design competition that celebrates design’s undeniable power to incite meaningful action and make positive change.

As part of a Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) grant, OHRDP determined need for a resource that would support frontline workers by presenting best practices in an accessible, reference-style format, providing step-by-step instructions that could be easily shared with individuals accessing harm reduction services.

In collaboration with the Ontario Harm Reduction Network (OHRN), a provincial advisory committee, and frontline workers, the 100+ page guide uses custom illustrations to grab attention while accurately showing the use of supplies.

The edgy, bold design embraces a visual looseness without becoming unstructured. Clear sections ensure the content can be easily scanned and digested. A series of 10 posters were created to match the design of Connecting for harm reduction programs to use in a wide range of sites and spaces.

An exhibit of the winners will travel across Canada, launching at the Vancouver Public Library (Central Library Branch) from May 29 to June 10, followed by Stanley A. Milner Library in Edmonton from June 14 to 29 and the Kingston Frontenac Public Library from September 18 to October 2. Winners are also featured in a printed Awards Annual designed by RallyRally+Briteweb and across RGD’s communications channels, reaching over 70,000.
